GLAMPING (Glamor + Camping)

My cousin Rachel's #36 birthday is in April.....we've always talked of leaving the kids and getting together for the weekend somewhere....well for her birthday....she wanted to bring some of her Vancouver girlfriends over to Moscow to experience MaryJane's glamping(google it if you've never heard of it).  Anyway....she doesn't take reservations at her farm anymore...so we decided to do our own "indoor glamping."  It worked out that my great-grandma's house was inbetween renters so we were able to Glamp there!!

Arrival of the "glamping girls"

Glamping party favors
True Glamping- there's no sleeping bags.... so we filled the livingroom with our airmattresses/sheets/blankets and pillows!

It was SUPER windy...but we spent Saturday checking out Harebrained and Happy in Potlatch, Multiple Stores in Palouse, eating Subway in Pullman (THANKS Nate and Sarah) and checking out Dahman Barn near Uniontown.

It was a fast, furious, fun, weekend spent together enjoying our own indoor "glamping fun"!!
We all agreed we had to do it again soon :)

Spring Break Fun

Kolby spent spring break every night 6-9pm at Hunter's Ed.  Since he's under 11 a parent had to stay with him.....lucky me...though Tom did save me at the end and went to the field day with him.
He passed and is now ready to hunt....he was looking up bear season when we told him that he can't do that yet...has to stick with turkeys :)  He was pretty excited about the whole thing!

The younger 3 kiddos got to visit "grandpa & grandma up the river" for a good part of the week so I could help out Kolby...we missed them.  So, when they got back...we took a hike up behind the house...always fun to see what we can find.
Great Uncle Quinten's combine

We found some of the trees we planted on Clara's 1st birthday

She's keeping look out for the moose and bear....or maybe just her siblings :)
We did see lots of moose droppings and even bear poop....YIKES!!  Wasn't sure what I'd do if we encountered any of them...with me and the 4 kids...I just asked the kids if they knew how to get back to the house.....

Daffodils were starting to bloom

Easter

We had another beautiful Easter Day spent down at Aunt Elaine's in Juliaetta.
Tom's parents joined us also.

"The Secret Garden"

The Missoula Children's Theatre came to Troy Elementary.
Kolby and Kassidy wanted to try out...and they were cast as a goose and a sheep.
They had an intense week of practicing
from after school until 8pm and then put on 2 shows Saturday the 30th.

the whole cast....they all did so good!

Enjoying some Jamms Frozen Yogurt in celebration for their performance

March 2013 highlights

Made my first ever homemade onion rings- yum!

Leaping

At school they were in the "Readers for leaders" reading program....with that if they where their shirts they get into the home U of I basketball games...and at the last game ALL the Readers for Leaders kids got to go down on the court.

Yep those are ALL 68 cases of girl scout cookies that my Troop ordered!!!  I spent 1 1/2 hours helping the ladies in Moscow unload the semi truck of cookies for our whole Eastern Washington/Northern Idaho Council!!!
Primeland had a contest going to raise money for the local food banks....you put money towards whoever you wanted to see kiss the pig.....well....Tom pulled some "strings" calling on some farmers at the last minute so that he could beat the other top runner.....AND He did it!!
He got to Kiss the Pig!! (actually 2 pigs)  They raised like $30,000 for the food banks!!
Great Job Primeland!!

Kassidy participated in the "Little Miss" part of the Distinguished Young Women program.
The theme was "totally 80's"
She was excited because her partner....was the winner of the DYW title.

Frosty the Snowman!!

February 2013 Highlights

We started Clara in a Creative Dance Class.
It's the same Class Kassidy was in a few short years ago :)
She loves the ribbon dancing!

Kassidy played Rec. Basketball.  She was on a 3rd/4th grade team.  They had enough girls from Troy to have their own team...hence the bright green shirts :)  She had fun...they won every game -except the very last one...which was a bummer...but they all did good!
The boys started making their Pinewood Derby cars--yes...Tom thought it was ok to use the saw at the kitchen table :)

Snow is slowly melting away...
The boys made cakes for their Cub Scout Blue & Gold silent auction.
Kolby made a tacklebox & Derrick wanted a mountain with animal tracks...which I helped him with
That pretty much sums up February for us..... plus squeeze in Thinking Day for Girl Scouts and driving a suburban load of girls to town in a snow storm on unplowed roads - by myself and oh yeah...Valentine's day
