Weekend of Basketball

The 3rd and 4th graders got to sing the National Anthem at the Troy home basketball game on Friday night. Pretty cool ;) Kolby only wanted to do it if we could stay and watch the game...which we did! Exciting times...and yes, Troy won...by quite a bit :)
Kolby is playing Troy-Rec Basketball on Saturday mornings. Here are some shots of him during his game...he's in the white jersey with the green shirt.

BRAVE GIRL Clara!

So we were helping some friends move last Friday...and Clara cut her foot on something. We got home late cleaned it, put a band-aid on and put her to bed...That was that right, no worries. Well the next morning she took off her band-aid and it still was bleeding pretty good. So after talking about it, Tom and I decided that we should take her to Quick-Care to see what they thought....(Tom I'm sure was just going along with my paranoid thoughts) Anyway... long story short...she ended up getting 4 stitches. Here is the thumbprint bruise (which I knew would come) from the doctor holding her foot in a "death grip" as he stitched her foot.

And here are the 4 stitches
fuzzy picture..but you get the idea
Brave girl she was....but after they put the numbing shot in...she screamed (and if you've been around Clara you know how shrill and loudly she screams even when she's happy)and she yelled stop..but I knew she wasn't hurting...she was just very MAD that we all were holding her down!!! Once he got done-she instantly stopped crying and we got her shoes on...she got her stickers and told everyone "BYE BYE" as she waved.
She's the first kiddo in the family to have stitches....well Derrick had that glue stuff put on his head...but looking back, compared to Clara's owie...his episode was more likely me just being really paranoid ;) Anyway...I still think we are blessed in the major owie department...considering how active, and into things my kiddos are ;) We get the stitches out this week! Yea!!

Girl Scout Award Night

Kassidy is a Daisy Scout....she had her first awards night this past week.
They sang a song, did a skit, they earned 2 patches, and ate LOTS of dessert--fun times:)

Snow eater

Clara LOVES to eat snow...and it doesn't matter to her at all where she gets it from-straight off the floor, someone's boots, snowpants...she doesn't care....as long as she can pick it up.......she eats it. We aren't afraid of germs in this house ;)

Ice Fishing- First time

Well like Derrick told her later, "You were sleeping" And she did for the whole time
we were there...Clara was all bundled in her snow suit ready to ice fish with the
rest of us and she fell asleep in the 6 minute car ride out to Spring Valley.

Tom finally using his new ice auger--you see he got it last Christmas...but last year was a not so good weather year and it never really worked out to go ice fishing before it was gone...so Today was the day...it worked pretty slick!!

Ice Fishing- getting ready

Getting the kid's poles set
Derrick watching his pole
Kassidy and Kolby manning their poles

Tom...nice work on our first attempt at Ice Fishing

The Hole...."Here Fishy - Fishy"

Tom said he thought the ice was close to a foot deep...but
it was kinda soft from the warm week we just had...along with the rain.
But it was a chilly morning today....we headed out after Kolby's basketball.
The kids lasted about an hour...we thought that was a good start ;)

Ice Fishing- the Wait

Derrick making a frozen snow angel on Spring Valley - while waiting for fish to bite.
Kassidy waiting and waiting...she kept winning the "quiet game"....cause you know if we stomp around in the snow too much we'll scare away the fish

Kolby trying to stay quiet for the fish or keeping warm we weren't sure ;) He's a silly one.

Tom and Heather waiting and waiting but no fish.

The parting shot....no matter how hard they stared.....the fish just weren't happen'n for us today.

Derrick & Clara

We have a closet full of toys...maybe it's the teacher in me or something...anyway...we spent a good part of Friday..switching toys out of the closet for a change. This ride along cow was one of them and Derrick had fun pushing Clara all over the kitchen....notice her "baby" is getting a ride too ;) They stuffed her down the back of Clara's shirt...and she didn't seem to mind ;)
Another was Dolls...Clara thought she should get in the bed with them....I found her in there talking to them...
Derrick got some new train pieces....so we had to get the train set out and play with them!!

It's amazing how when it's "toy switch time"...how they are so into playing with the toys..it's like they have a whole bunch of brand new toys...without the price tag :)

Tough Times??

As we went about our day...we found Clara with TWO pacifiers at the same time....she must have been having a rough time ;) Derrick just thought this was so funny! (Again the date is wrong!)
