This Week's Happenings

There was a "come look" event at the school this week- each class had something to show.  The 3rd and 4th graders had a poetry reading....the room was full of all the 3rd and 4th graders and their families snapping their fingers after each reading.  Kolby did a great job- he read a partner poem and then recited his memorized poem that he wrote.
Wev'e had some spotty nice weather so we are enjoying that!
Our tractor is about 4 1/2 years old and this winter's snow load must have finally gotten to it...cause a month ago when Tom shoveled snow and went to move the tractor....the front wheels stayed on the patio
as the rest of the tractor lifted up.--Who needs front wheels anyway when you got a big brother!!!

Bike rider Derrick---mom watch me go fast ;)
Kassidy taking a dump truck ride--looks like a good roller coaster face :)

Big Moon and Spring Coming Soon-right?

So it was snowing to beat the band as night fell....so I thought there was no chance of seeing this Moon that everyone is talking about....but after it snowed about 3 inches it cleared off and you could see the moon and all the stars....

Isn't it about spring time???  I guess I shouldn't complain...the sun was nice this morning!
 Good Morning Sunshine
All the little birds aren't sure about the new blanket of snow...they are happy for our birdfeeder!!  Here is a House Finch waiting his turn ;)

St. Patrick's Day

For a fun surprise during breakfast on St. Patrick's Day the kids got
Shamrock Shaped Straws with their choclate milk ;)

Clean Rocks

We had a few sun breaks the other day, so DJ, Clara and I were outside.  We noticed some of our daffodils starting to come up where the snow is melted away.  I then went inside for a bit...and came out asking DJ what was going on with the towels and the rocks....
He said he wanted to clean them.  So he was washing them in the water that was collected in the wagon and laying them on the towels to dry.  As you can see it then started to rain so- he came inside...and didn't get as many rocks cleaned as he thought...now we have Clean Wet Rocks and some Dirty Wet Towels!

Racers Ready?

Kolby's Cub Scout Pinewood Derby was this weekend....He wanted his derby car to be an old looking pick-up....so Tom and him cut it out and then he worked hard at the sanding and painting and then sanding some more to make it look "old"

Cub Master Tom/Dad ;)  Setting up the racers...Kolby's is on the left.
One of the races he won :)  He won a couple of them but didn't make it to the finals...maybe next year.
Even though we looked under beds, behind dressers, and even in the car....his scout shirt was no where to be found....but it didn't stop him from having a fun Race Day ;)

Extremes

All day yesterday and this morning we hovered around the 30 degree mark snow was sticking everywhere and then mid morning the snow stopped and the icicles started dropping off the eves and the temperature said it was around 43 degrees.
Tom came home for a bit and plowed out the driveway so we are set for the more
snow/rain they are calling for ;)

Yes that temp says about 43 degrees....crazy in just 8 hours or so how it warmed up and everything started melting away

Pictures from the patio of the trees from this morning(snow covered) and this afternoon(no snow)

Another SNOW DAY!!

Yep, we got the call, heard it on the radio, and saw it on the t.v....No School for Troy today!
So in the last 3 weeks, we have had a no school 1 day each week because of power outages or snow..wow and now it is March!
With these pictures you'll see why ;)
The snow is sticking to everything even the antenna
Tom left down the driveway slowly this morning

Boys helping to shovel again!! I'm just glad they think it's still a fun thing ;)

Kolby likes to body plant in the snow..

One of the tunnels we made on the patio...you see I gave up shoveling all the snow off ALL of the patio :)

Views off of the patio to our winter wonderland
The weather says it is supposed to warm up...get into the 40's tomorrow...won't this be nice
our beautiful snow will be slop ;(

Kassidy's Thinking Day

On Sunday, Kassidy's Girl Scout Troop was part of the area's Thinking Day...
Each of the area Troops picked a country and learned about it, they had to come up with a food, a stamp, and a little trinket that all represented the country.  Kassidy's troop did Thiland.  Then they each had a "passport" and got to go around the world to different countries...These are a few pictures of her at it.

She won a little drawing and received this hat from ..you guessed it France ;)  She calls it her apple hat ;)

Here are all her little trinkets :)
She got to go to France, Thiland, Japan, Costa Rica, Germany..just to name a few ;)
